Don Felder-The Vault-Fifty Years Of Music ©2025 Frontiers Records
Every time I think of Don Felder or hear his name, the track 'Heavy Metal' always comes to mind. Fans will remember him from his time with the Eagles, but also this track from the Heavy Metal movie soundtrack. 'The Vault' is comprised of 11 tracks including 'Heavy Metal'. Apparently these are all demos, but there is a degree of polish to these songs that makes them sound very good and like a finished product. That makes this album a safe bet for those leery of poor sounding demo albums. I though this album sounded really good. Tracks have quite a few different personalities. It's not just an album with heavy sounds. Some mainstream sounding stuff is on here as well. The Eagles are a very talented band and the members that have played with this band have been the reason why. Don Felder is one of my favorites from the band. I was definitely glad to get this!

Detroit Run-Defiance Part One ©2025 Detroit Run
Recently I checked out out a cool new promo from the UK Alt rockers Detroit Run. The EP contains 5 tracks of modern alt rock with some synth and cool guitar riffing. Been listening to quite a bit of modern heavy rock sounds recently and this band fit right into my tastes. To me, the thing that differentiates them from the metalcore movement is the lack of the screams or unclean vocals. All vocal work is clean and fairly melodic. The music has a good up tempo feel to it and really gives you a feel for what this band is all about. The band started in 2022 so they are relatively new, but are off to a solid start. They do have a decent presence via social media and can be listened to via YouTube or Spotify and possibly other areas. If you like modern sounds with a decent melodic element, Detroit Run have something to offer you. Keep an eye on this band!

The Speaker Wars-The Speaker Wars ©2025 Frontiers Records
Some of you may be familiar with drummer Stan Lynch. He was the founding drummer in Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers and spent 18 years with the band. The Speaker Wars is his current band and in ways is kind of similar to the Tom Petty stuff. Lynch spent time working on more of the production side of things, but has decided to get back behind the drum kit for another round of rock 'n roll. As mentioned, if you think of the style of the Tom Petty music, I feel that is where The Speaker Wars fits in. Not totally the same in terms of sound, but you'll hear things here and there that will feel familiar to you. Classic stuff like Dire Straits came to mind as well. The record overall has a classic rock feel to it. It's nice to settle in with some laid back tunes that have some feeling to them. Also nice to see Lynch back at it with the drums. Good classic sounding record!

Volbeat-God Of Angels Trust ©2025 Volbeat/Universal Music Group
Been a fan of Volbeat for a bit now. Been liking each release as they have been offered to us. 'Servant Of The Mind' quickly became my favorite and the album that sets the bar. Each album going forward will be compared to that album in my opinion. This new album is Volbeat at it's core. Good hard driving stuff that has some great riffing as always. Michael Poulsen's voice is so unique and brings a melodic quality to the music even when it goes heavier. This is another solid batch of tunes. Heavy in the same vein as many of the previous albums. If you are already familiar with this band, you will know what to expect. This album is excellent overall. I probably still think 'Servant Of The Mind' is my favorite, but this album does offer some similarities to that album that rank this album high in my favorites from the band!

Inglorious-V ©2025 Frontiers Records
The British hard rockers Inglorious have returned with their new album 'V' which also marks the return of original bass player Colin Parkinson. This album is chock full of great melodic hard rock songs. Songwriting as always is strong with the new album. There is a decent amount of grit to the songs, but also some flash. Not to stray away from melody as the band has incorporated that for a truly infectious group of tracks. Everything sounds confident and bold. I really dig the thick guitar sound that permeates through the album. Take 'Power Of Truth' as an example. There is a good deal of atmosphere and then bam, the guitar. Very catchy in my opinion. Inglorious is a very good band with a great track record to this point. It's nice to see Colin back and his contributions helping to make great music. Another excellent record that is easy to recommend!
